I love embossing folders, I use them on almost every card I make. I have A LOT of embossing folders. I am going to share with you how I organize my folders so I can find what I need quickly. I am also going to share how I know how the embossing from the folder will look when I use it.

First I make a holder for each of my embossing folders. This is a good use of card stock that is retired so I won’t be using it in projects I share on my blog and on my YouTube channel. For my mini embossing folders (those that are 3 ½’ wide or narrower) and my regular size embossing folders (those that are 4 ½” wide). I cut a piece of card stock 5 ⅜ X 11 and fold it at 3 ½”. This means my finished holder is 5 ⅜ X 7 ½.

For my large embossing folders (those that are 6” wide), I cut a piece of card stock 6 ⅝ X 11, folded at 3 ½. Why am I using measurements in the ⅛ inches? If I use a 12 X 12 paper, I can get both a regular size holder and a large holder from one sheet of paper.

I put the name of the embossing folder at the top of my paper holder and on the embossing folder. When I find an embossing folder on my craft table, I can put it back in the right holder easily by matching up the name on the embossing folder with the name on the paper holder.

I also cut a piece of white paper 3 ½ and the width of my holder. I emboss this white paper with the folder. This lets me see the finished design, which is a great help when I am deciding on which folder to use for a project.

I staple the sides of my holder closed with the white embossed piece on top. This way I can slip one half of my embossing folder into the holder.

I store my embossing folders in clear bins, sorted alphabetically. I hope this has given you some good ideas for organizing your embossing folders.
