Have a Hoot Halloween card |
|
T he Have A Hoot stamp set is great for both Halloween and Christmas cards. This cards uses vellum to add another layer of texture.
Card Base: Cut Basic Black 8 ½ X 11 paper in half widthwise. You now have two pieces 8 ½ X 5 ½ . Fold one of the pieces in half lengthwise for your card front. The card front now measures 4 ¼ X 5 ½.
Card Mat: Cut Pumpkin Pie paper 4 X 5 1/4
Card Front: Cut Basic Black paper 3 7/8 X 5 ⅛. Emboss Basic Black card front with the Woodland embossing folder.
Die cut the open circle from Vellum paper using die from Painted Labels die set.
Stamp the Owl in a tree with black ink on the Vellum circle. Set aside to let ink set on the vellum.
Attach embossed card front to card mat. Attach these to the card base.
Once ink is set on your vellum, turn the stamped vellum over and color on the back of the vellum. This gives a soft look to your coloring and you don’t need to be concerned if the ink is a match to your coloring tools. I used Stampin Up Markers, you could use Blends or whichever coloring tools you prefer. I colored the Owl with Smokey Slate, the tree with Soft Suede, the beak with Pumpkin Pie and the spider with black.
I used glue dots to attach the colored Vellum to the card front. If you put the glue dots behind the colored sections, the glue dots will not be noticeable. I then added Wink of Stella to the spider.
For the inside of your card, cut a piece of Whisper White 4 X 5 ¼. I stamped sentiment and image with Pumpkin Pie ink.
I stamped an owl from the stamp set on the envelope.
